Getting started toolkit: tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in primary schools

Primary

A toolkit from Stonewall for preventing and tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in primary schools.

This resource belongs to the resource hub for classroom and wellbeing support.

This detailed resource from LGBTQIA+ charity Stonewall looks at the issue of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in primary schools and how schools can address it.

To make this as simple as possible for schools, the resource is broken down into five practical steps:

  1. Setting the ground rules
  2. Communicate the school's approach to parents and carers
  3. Keep track of all incidents
  4. Find out what's going on in school
  5. Develop school scripts

The resource builds knowledge, skills and understanding of how to implement an anti-bullying approach across a setting. It supports everyone within the school community to increase awareness of the impact bullying can have, and how it can be prevented and tackled.
